MAMA'S BLACK SHEEP

Video of Mama's Black Sheep

We are blessed to have open our 2019/2020 Concert Series with the uplifting, toe tapping, Baltimore duo, Mama's Black Sheep, joined by Helen Hausmann on violin.

Mama’s Black Sheep is the soulful collaboration of singer-songwriters Ashland Miller (guitar/vocals) and Laura Cerulli (drums/vocals). Together, this duo creates a blend of hit worthy originals and covers with a unique spin.  Each song allows you to travel with time, whether you’re swinging to Country, Rocking to Pop, Grooving to Soul, or swaying to the Blues; there’s always something to move your body and stir your soul!

This thought-provoking duo will tantalize your aural appetite, regardless of your musical taste buds, with a diverse blend of blues, soul, country, pop, and more by unapologetically dipping into the well of all music genres. It’s called soulful, poetic story telling with an irresistible groove.

E. NINA JAY

Video of e. nina jay

e. nina jay has been described as, “a Black, Lesbian, Womon, Writer who uses poetry as a tool of survival to break silences around all forms of violence against gurls and womyn, with particular focus on the intersections of race, sexuality, and poverty. She takes her place as the next generation of liberators, fighting injustice with her words, throwing truths that land like bricks, and inciting an uprising against misogyny, racism, homophobia and violence against women.

The site of resistance is her own black lesbian body, as she illuminates harsh and beautiful experiences, releases the power of her voice, and encourages others to end silence and rise up in their own power and joy.

MATTHEW ANDRAE

Jicarilla Apache Matthew Andrae is an international recording artist featured at the Winter Olympic Games, The World Expo, Apple France, and various television and movie scores. Matthew's music combines the groove of a Stevie Wonder. His songs are played on a Guitalele (a cross between a classical guitar and a tenor ukulele).
